A Season of Gratitude Across the Airwaves
As we approach the end of another year, I wanted to take a moment to send a digital "Merry Christmas" and Happy Holidays to the entire Packet Radio community. In an era of high-speed fiber and constant cellular connectivity, there is something truly special-and vital-about the rhythmic "braaap" of a TNC and the resilient network we've built together.
To the Sysops: The Backbone of the network
A massive thank you goes out to the Sysops. You are the unsung heroes who keep the nodes running, the BBS reachable, and the AX.25/IL2P packets flowing.
Thank you for the late nights spent troubleshooting hardware failures.
Thank you for climbing towers in the cold to tweak antennas.
Thank you for maintaining the gateways that bridge our local RF clusters to the global network. Your dedication ensures that when we key up, there's a reliable destination waiting on the other side.
To the Users: The Life of the Network
To the Users, thank you for keeping the frequencies alive. A network is only as strong as the people participating in it. Whether you are:
Checking into the local BBS to read the latest bulletins.
Sending NTS traffic to keep the tradition of radiograms alive.
Experimenting with new software, Raspberry Pi integrations, or emergency prep.
Or simply "keyboard-to-keyboard" chatting with a neighbour.
Your presence proves that Packet Radio isn't just a legacy mode; it's a thriving, evolving community of hobbyists and technical enthusiasts.
Looking Forward to the New Year
May your noise floor be low, your SWR be perfect, and your connect requests always be acknowledged. I hope this holiday season brings you plenty of time in the shack, perhaps a new piece of gear under the tree, and the joy of a clear signals.
Thank you all for being part of this incredible hobby. Here's to many more successful connects in the coming year!
