May-June Amateur Radio Magazine Is Out
Date : 04 / 06 / 2026
Author : WIA Board
The latest edition of Amateur Radio magazine for May/June 2026 is landing in letterboxes, and the digital version
is available right now!
As Australia's national amateur radio journal, Amateur Radio continues to showcase the ingenuity,
technical curiosity and depth of experience that make our hobby far more than simply talking into a microphone.
The combination of citizen science, experimentation, art, competition and ingenuity is simply astounding!
Leading the technical content is Carmel Morris VK2NO's "A New Twist to an Old Helix", offering a fresh look at a
classic antenna design.
Roger Harrison VK2ZRH contributes two practical antenna articles, "Ya Don't Need a Yagi to Get Ya YaeComWood
On-Air" and "Stubs – A Too Long Ignored Antenna Match Problem Solver", both packed with ideas for improving station
performance using simple and effective techniques. Constructors will also enjoy Part 2 of Lou DeStafano VK3AQZ's "80/40
Transceiver for Foundation Operators and New-Hand Constructors", continuing the development of an accessible homebrew
project designed to encourage experimentation and learning for Foundation Operators.
Beyond the technical articles, the issue contains several features of broad interest to the amateur community.
Readers will find a practical guide in "Need Proof of Amateur Licence Documentation from the ACMA?" by Justin Giles-Clark VK7TW,
helping operators navigate the process of obtaining licence evidence under the new Class Licence arrangements.
The magazine also celebrates excellence through the annual WIA Awards, continues the historical journey in
"The Wireless Reserve and the WIA, Part 2" by Peter Wolfenden VK3RV, and recognises outstanding operating achievements
in the 2025 DX Leaderboard compiled by the WIA DX Awards Committee.
Whether your interests lie in building, operating, history, regulation or chasing rare DX, the May/June 2026 edition
delivers something worth reading from cover to cover.
