Need Proof of Your Amateur Licence Documentation? Here's How

Date : 07 / 06 / 2026
Author : WIA Board

Whether you're planning to operate overseas under reciprocal licensing arrangements, applying for access to digital voice networks,
or simply need to demonstrate your amateur radio qualifications to a local council or other authority,
having the right documentation is becoming increasingly important.

A recent article in Amateur Radio magazine highlights a surprising finding from the 2025 ACMA Performance Survey, which showed that
fewer than one in six Australian amateurs knew how to obtain copies of their licence-related documentation from the
Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

The article, written by the WIA, provides a practical step-by-step guide covering both amateurs licensed before and after the
commencement of the amateur class licence arrangements on 19 February 2024.

It explains how operators can access Recognition Certificates, Call Sign Certificates, historical confirmation letters,
and other qualification records either through the ACMA Assist Portal or by contacting the ACMA Customer Service Centre directly.

With more amateurs travelling internationally, installing antennas requiring local approvals, and needing evidence of their
qualification status for a variety of purposes, knowing how to retrieve these records is an increasingly valuable skill.

The full article is now publicly available and can be accessed through the WIA website at Link. >>

Readers are encouraged to bookmark the guide for future reference and share it with fellow amateurs who may need
assistance navigating the process.
