Youth access to ACMA Assist

The ACMA Assist verification system requires new users to use myID to verify their identity.
However, a person under the age of 15 is ineligible to set up a Digital ID and cannot create an ACMA Assist account.

We advise new amateur operators under 15 years to instead submit a manual application for an ACMA recognition certificate
and call sign.

Once the manual application forms are completed, email them to info@acma.gov.au. We will provide an invoice by email.
When the invoice is paid, we will issue the recognition certificate and then process the call sign application.

We also recommend that children use an email address that is not associated with another personâ€Ös ACMA Assist account.
For example, if the childâ€Ös parent is an amateur operator, the childâ€Ös ACMA account should use a different email address
to their parentâ€Ös email.
This keeps information separate and helps prevent a potential breach of privacy and confidentiality.

Update to amateur operating procedures.

Following feedback, we have made minor changes to the Amateur radio operating procedures:
• added new text about the amateur band plan
• removed text about third party-traffic because it was inconsistent with the Radiocommunications (Amateur Stations) Class Licence 2023
• removed an obsolete reference to ‘entertainmentâ€Ö.

ACMA response times.

In the lead up to, and during, the December/January holiday period, you may experience longer response times to
your amateur queries and applications.

Please continue to ensure all queries are sent to info(at)acma.gov.au
